Cart FAQs
Each cart is a little different:
- Recyclables are to be placed in the cart with the blue lid and should NOT be bagged (with the exception of shredded paper)Â
- Garbage may be bagged or looseÂ
- We recommend organics be bagged using certified compostable bags or wrapped in newspaper to minimize sticking inside the cart, reduce odours, etc.
- Place bins on a level surface within 8 ft of the road for mechanical collection
- Leave 2 ft clearance between bins and other objects
- Orient the arrows on the lids toward the street, with handles facing your homeÂ
- Close lids loosely—do not overfill, and avoid secured bungees or straps

The County is implementing a cart maintenance and replacement program. Should your bins become damaged, please contact Service Simcoe or visit simcoe.ca for more details.
- Garbage tags must be affixed to all overflow garbage
- Garbage tags are $3 per tag sold in sheets of 5 at various retail locations
- Max of 5 tagged bags are permitted on garbage day
- Use standard-sized garbage bags (max weight 20 kg, max volume 90 cm x 75 cm)
- Place 2 feet apart from cart or any other objects, not on top of cart
- Old garbage cans may be used as long as the garbage inside is tagged and bagged as above (limit 1 bag per container to ensure collection)
