Employment - Grader / Backhoe Operator

The Township of Essa is a dynamic and growing municipality with a current population of approximately 24,000, located in the County of Simcoe and southwest of the City of Barrie. The Township’s Public Works Department is currently seeking an individual to meet the requirements of a Grader/Backhoe Operator.
Reporting to the Roads Supervisor, the Grader/Backhoe Operator is responsible for operating a gradall, dozer, motor grader and other heavy equipment from time to tome and to provide on-site leadership and technical guidance to the Roads Department crew, if required, and provide a variety of construction, snow/ice removal maintenance and road repair services for the safety and convenience of the public.

Key Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Driver’s License in good standing. Class “DZ” required, “AZ” preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in road construction, maintenance and equipment operation: loader, dozer, gradall, motor grader, tractor-backhoe, tandem trucks, sidewalk plough, snow plough trucks.
  • Accu-grade train would be an asset.

Have knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.The position offers a wage range of $28.48 - $33.50/hr (2024), 40 hours per week. Must be able to provide us with a clean driver’s abstract.
