Council approves 2025 Township of Essa Budget
Utopia - December 19th , 2024 – On December 18th, 2024, Township of Essa Council approved its 2025 budget, which focuses on resources necessary to maintain existing services, aged asset replacement and address significant growth in our communities. The 2025 approved budget of $38,222,833.00 represents a total tax increase of 3.26% which equals approximately $25.61 per $100,000 of residential assessment based on the MPAC 2016 Current Assessments Value (CVA) not the current market value of a home/property.
“Essa Council and Staff worked diligently to find efficiencies wherever possible, and Essa remains the lowest tax rate in all 16 municipalities in Simcoe County, while ensuring we maintain the ability to meet service demands and infrastructure needs as our communities continue to grow” said Mayor Sandie Macdonald.
“We are thankful to the provincial Ford government for providing the 2025 financial relief to offset the financial impact of the rapidly escalating cost of policing in Essa and across Ontario” Mayor Macdonald said.
While pressures continue, the 2025 budget ensures the Township continues to address infrastructure needs and areas of growth, as well as initiatives directed by Council to enhance and maintain critical service levels. The Township’s 2025 Capital requests of $15,750,414 include new and continuing capital projects. Capital projects are not directly funded by property tax and user rates; rather they are funded by a combination of grants, reserves /reserve funds and debentures.
