The Township of Essa is a dynamic and growing municipality with a current population of approximately 24,000, located in the County of Simcoe and southwest of the City of Barrie. The Township’s Public Works Department is currently seeking individuals to fill the requirements of contract Labourer positions.
Reporting to the Roads Supervisor, the Labourer is responsible for a variety of construction, maintenance and repair services for Township roads. The position is based on a 40-hour work week from April to October. Candidates must be able to operate a variety of light equipment, possibly including: front-end loader, dozer, tractor-backhoe, tandem dump trucks, and other specialized equipment, and carry out labour-intensive tasks.
Key Qualifications:
• Possess a valid Driver’s License in good standing. Class “D” or higher with Z air brake endorsement.
• Have 1-3 years’ experience operating construction equipment: front-end loader, dozer, tractor-backhoe, tandem dump trucks.
• Have knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
The position offers a wage range of $24.90 - $29.28/hr (2025), 40 hours per week. No benefits will be offered. The incumbent will be required to supply their own safety boots (CSA approved). Must be able to provide us with a clean driver’s abstract.
