Notice: Lifting Reduced (Half) Load Restrictions Effective April 18th, 2024
The Township of Essa will lift seasonal load restrictions early this year in conjunction with the County of Simcoe. Following a review of weather conditions and data, reduced load restrictions will be removed on Essa’s roads as of April 18th, 2024.
Half-load restrictions are typically in place from March 1 to May 1. During this time, vehicles are restricted to a maximum loaded weight of five tonnes per axle unless they meet the exceptions under the Highway Traffic Act. These restrictions are implemented to safeguard the integrity of roads and roadbeds during the spring-thaw period when roads are more susceptible to damage.
The Township extends its appreciation to the community for their cooperation during the restricted load period.
