Notice of Vacancy: Essa Public Library Board Position

Are you passionate about literacy, lifelong learning, and cultural programs that make a positive impact in your community? If so, consider serving on the Essa Public Library Board.

The Essa Public Library operates as a distinct corporation in harmony with the Township of Essa. The Library Board is a governance board responsible for envisioning library services in Essa, establishing policies, and maintaining fiscal responsibility to support these services. The board consists of 5 to 7 dedicated volunteers from the community, along with at least one member of the Essa Council. The CEO/Chief Librarian serves as the Treasurer and Secretary to the Library Board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend board meetings held on the 4th Monday of each month (ten times a year) at 7 PM. Meetings may last up to two hours.
  • Participate in virtual meetings during January, February, November, and December.
  • Engage in sub-committee work and fundraising activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members to shape the future of the library services in Essa.
