Tanker Shuttle Accreditation Program
Every five years the Essa Fire Department is required to re-certify in its tanker shuttle accreditation program. Having completed the last certification testing in 2018, Essa Fire is now required to complete this testing again in 2023.
The Tanker Shuttle Accreditation is an equivalency to the minimum requirements for hydrant protection as set out by the insurance industry. The requirements for this accreditation are stringent and verify that the fire protection district is capable of delivering the minimum accepted fire flows to detached dwellings throughout the fire protection district within 8 km by road of all Fire Stations and 5 km by road of a water supply point.
The Essa Fire Department is scheduled to be tested for this accreditation on Saturday August 19th, 2023.
In order to prepare for this testing, the Essa Fire Department will be conducting practical training from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on the following dates:
- June 28th
- July 5th
- July 19th
- July 26th
Essa Fire Department apparatus will be operating at two locations:
- 4th Line and County Road 10, and
- Mill Street in Angus at the water pumping station. Tanker apparatus will also be travelling the roads between these two points.
Please be aware that there may be some short delays in these areas while the Essa Fire Department conducts training and testing.
Residents are reminded of the benefits of the Fire Department obtaining and maintaining the tanker shuttle accreditation and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work toward our 2023 renewal.
Respectfully,
Doug Burgin
Fire Chief
