Welcome to the Township of Essa’s Skating and Shinny Programs!

Gear up and hit the ice with our Skating and Shinny Programs! Whether you're a seasoned skater or just starting out, our program offers a blend of recreational skating and friendly pickup hockey games (shinny) for participants of all ages and skill levels.

How to participate:

Participating in our Skating and Shinny Program is easy! Simply check out our program schedule to see when public skating sessions and shinny hockey games are taking place. Whether you're dropping in for a casual skate or gearing up for a competitive game of shinny, just check the drop-in price and pay at the entrance.

What We Offer:

Please note, the ice is removed between April-October to accommodate for other programming on the pad. The ice has been removed for the season. Skating and Shinny programs will resume in the Fall!

Outdoor Rinks:
In addition to our indoor skating programs, enjoy our outdoor rinks this winter season! Outdoor rinks are located at the following locations:

• Thornton: 246 Barrie St, Thornton
• Baxter: 119 Murphy Road, Baxter
• Glen Eton/Wildflower: 42 McCarthy Cres, Angus
