Decks

You require a building permit to construct a deck on your property where certain conditions exist. For information regarding constructing a deck, please contact the Building Department at building@essatownship.on.ca, or call the Building Department directly at extension 705-424-9917 ext. 128.

Apply for a Permit

You need to complete and submit a Building Permit Application in order to build a deck on your property. Please review Essa's Deck Package document prior to submitting your application.

Applicants are required to provide the Building Department with two hard copies of ALL documents as well as electronic copies of all documents. Electronic applications and subsequent documentation can be sent by email to building@essatownship.on.ca.

Building Permit Application to Construct or Demolish
Site Plan (fully dimensioned)
Construction Drawings (full size and to scale)
Approval documents such as CCMC or BMEC and Minister's Rulings
Letter of authorization (if applicable)
Applicable law approvals

Fees

Building Permit Fees vary and are dependent on the scope of your building or renovation project. We will calculate all building permit fees after reviewing the application. You will not be issued a building permit until you have paid all permit fees and obtained all necessary approvals.
