Mill Street in Angus was zoned as Core Commercial (C2) way back in 1963.
The Province prohibits Municipal Zoning By-laws from discriminating between uses. This means that owners of properties zoned as Core Commercial can open/operate any of the businesses listed, regardless of how many of the same businesses that are already open on Mill Street.
In accordance with the Township’s Zoning By-law 2003-50, the owners of properties that are zoned as Core Commercial are permitted to place any of the following businesses on their property in the C2 Zone along Mill Street:
- Retail stores
- Personal service shops
- Service shops
- Restaurants
- Nursery or commercial schools, including day cares
- Parking lots or structures
- Theatres
- Hotels/motels
- Antique dealers
- Auto service stations (gas stations)
- Auto sales
- Places of amusement
- Business or professional offices
- Artist studios
- Funeral parlors
- Vet clinics
- Call centres I offices for distribution of calls
- Apartment(s) above any of the above listed uses in accordance with the appropriate Section
- Accessory buildings or structures subsidiary to any of the
